Interview - Mr. Cook

Vice Principal - Mr. Cook
There is a new member of J. Addison School in mid November of 2013, which is a vice principal, Mr. Cook. Mr. Cook is friendly vice principal since he always says hi to every student and teacher in the morning. One thing that surprises all the students is he remembers every student’s name when he just came in the school for a few weeks.
The first impression of Mr. Cook is a strict principal but after the interview I thought he was nice and talkative vice principal I had ever interviewed. Mr. Cook was a principal of a boarding school before he becomes J. Addison School’s vice principal; he said that the differences between them were building of this school was larger than the previous school and students of this school are from other countries. When I asked Mr. Cook that why he wanted to be a vice principal of J. Addison School, he replied that he wanted to help students in different ways. The way he helped the students would impact their future. As being a vice principal, he also could help the school to become a successful and well-known private school. He told me that the first impression of this school was amazing to see students were kindly that made the school full of energy. Since 2014 was already started, the goal he wanted to achieve for this year was getting to know every teacher and student so that he could help him or her to reach his or her goal. In order to achieve his goal, he would be active in the school and open his office door all the time for helping students and teachers. When I asked him that expectation of all the teachers, he said that he wanted teachers to do their best on teaching students knowledge to become successful in the future.

Mr. Cook-as a vice principal of J. Addison School has already gotten know teachers and students very well in a few months and students think that he is responsible and friendly vice principal. In beginning of 2014, he wishes all the graduates got into the universities they want and work hard in universities.

My Own List of Lists

1. People who have influenced me: My mother has influenced me a lot because she teaches me to take care of my siblings. She said that a woman who is good at studying and working is not good enough, she also needs to know how to take care of others. She teaches me how to cook and clean the house so that I can take care of my siblings. My father has influenced me too because he does not care my marks but he cares that I should have good personalities such as nice, honest, obedient and respect. My siblings also have influenced me because they have good personalities and behaviours so I learn from them to be a good person.
2. Places that makes me happy: The first place makes me happy is China because all my good friends and relatives are there. My grandparents are in China too. When I go back to China, they will make lots of my favourite food for me. They take care of me a lot since they see me once a year. I realize that they are getting old so I need to spend more time with them. I am happy to see them because I love and miss them a lot when I live in Toronto. The second place makes me happy is Korea because I went there with my friends when I was 16. It was the first time my parents did not go with me because they realized that I was old enough to go with myself. My friends and I had lots of fun in Korea because we felt free to travel by ourselves. At that time, I realized that I start to be independent.
3. Places I would like to go: I would like to go Maldives and Venice because these two places will be sink into the sea in 50 years. I want to go before they are disappeared. If I don't go there, I will my life is not perfect enough.
4. Things in people which i like: I like to stay with people who are nice, optimistic and humour because I am funny and honest. I like to be happy everyday so I would like to stay with people who are humour and optimistic. Some people always worry about everything that make their lives suffer for a long term and I am not the person like that. I do not worry anything even though there are bad things happen in my life, I will be optimistic to face them.
5. Things in people which i dislike: I don't like people who are not honest since I am honest to everyone. People who are not honest that means they are crafty. They won't do anything without benefits and if they make friends with me, they will take as much as advantage from me. I don't like to lie to anyone because I know that they won't be happy and being betrayed if I lie to them.
6. My personal favourites: My favourite movies are Forrest Gump and Singing in the rain. My favourite songs are I wanna be free and San Francisco. My favourite TV shows are Will it snow for Christmas, That winter, The wind blows and Secret Garden. My favourite presents I have received are teddy bears because my best friends gave me a teddy bear and the bear's feet had the date of my birthday and also showed the year I received.

As Time Goes Bye-Bye: Carpe diem

As time goes by, I want to get a Master degree and also be a charter accountant. I want to have a well paid job and have stable and happy life. The stable and happy life I want means that get married with a man who love me and have children and also will not worry about the financial problem in a family. if I am thirty-five, I will travel to Europe with my best friends and celebrate my birthday with them. Since my friends and I will be busy on working and taking care of children, we won't have time to meet each other. At that time, I will ask my best friends to leave their families for two weeks and then go to Europe for relaxing. I am not the person who get married and lose my best friends because I think best friends are more important than my family. In order to keep in touch with my best friends, I want to invite them to travel with me without bringing families.
I have already said good-bye to China. I came to Toronto since I was fourteen. I left my friends and relatives in China. At that age, I was not mature and did not plan for my future. I did not regret to study in Toronto because I learnt lots of things that I did not learn in China such as how to socialize with others, how to take care of myself and how to be a mature person. In high school, any decision I made had effect on choosing universities. Everyone should be responsible for their decisions that was one thing I learnt in high school. It was the turning point from being a native person to be a mature person. I did not have good strategies to study comparing with the students who study in China but I learnt how to fit into the western society. I did not regret my decision because I chose the way of my life and I needed to be responsible for it.

My Family Story

When I was small, my father always told me his own story because he wanted me to be thankful and treasured to lived in a good family.
He told me that his family was poor when he was young. He and his siblings needed to help parents to do the housework. Since my father is the oldest child in the family, he needs to lead his siblings to do the housework after school. Even though My father's family was poor at that time, my grandmother and grandfather want them to have education in school. It was hard to afford the tuition fees for his sibling and him because his family was not wealthy enough to let every child go to school. My grandparent did not spend a lot on the food and clothes because they wanted to save money for their children to have education at school. My father always helped grandparent to do the housework because he is the oldest child in the family and he needs to take the responsibility to do. His siblings also helped parents doing the housework such as cooking the dinner, washing the dishes and washing the clothes. In my father generation, people who graduated from the high school was classified to have high education level. He was graduated from the high school but no company needed him because he did not have any work experience. therefore, he tried many types of jobs such as a worker in the construction plant, a dishwasher, a farm worker and a supermarket manager. He got lots of work experience from working in different kinds of industry. My father started to become a business man because he know the  operation in different kinds of industry. He is working so hard to earn money because he does not want me to live in poverty. He wants me to live in a condition which is does not worry about anything and just focusing on education. He wants me to have high education then I can get a good job in the future.
I always think my father's story is encouraging to work hard on studying because he works hard to  become a successful business man and I need to learn from him in order to success in my life. I appreciate the things that  my father gives me.

Artist Profile Project

Artist Profile
 Claude Monet

Claude Monet was born on November 14, 1840 in Paris. He was a famous French painter and a founder of French impressionist painting. His family moved to Le Havre when he was five years old. He met a artist called Eugene Boudin who taught and encourage him to paint. He got lots of inspiration from visiting Musée du Louvre and started to paint what he saw through a window. Monet went to Swiss Academy to learn painting in 1859. He made lots of friends with famous artists. His first painting was summited to the official Salon called Le Dejeuner sur l'herbe (the Picnic) in 1865. He demonstrated Impression: sunrise at the first impressionist exhibition in the studio of Nadar. Monet settled in Giverny and stayed there for 43 years. He painted the series of Meules and of Peupliers. In 1900s, his wife and son were dead then he painted The Water Lilies for remembering them. Monet suffered for the lung cancer and died on November 5,1926.
Claude Monet has over 400 artworks. His painting is popular these days since modern artists imitate his painting styles. His paintings are impressive because many people look at his artworks they can get the feeling that Monet wants to show. His best artwork is The Water Lilies because the artwork is very big and Monet put lots of effort on this work. He painted a series of The Water Lilies and they can be combined in a big piece of artwork. Also there are many artworks are popular too such as Le Genouillere, Le Bassin Aux Nympheas and San Giorgio Maggiore at Dusk.

Les Nymphéas (The Water Lilies)

People know Claude Monet because of this painting. This painting expresses a feeling of calm. The viewers see this artwork feel comfortable and feel like they are in that area and see the pond. Monet focused on a small area of the pond and didn’t stand out any details since he did not use the bright color to point out the main part of the artwork. This pond is his house’s garden in Giverny, which represents his later life, is like the pond peace and calm.

Impression sunrise

Claude Monet’s Impression, Sunrise has been celebrated as the quintessential symbol of the Impressionist Movement. He composed the majority of the painting blue and violet, but the reflection of the sun on the water is painted in orange. The ships in the background act as a structuring element and create linear structures. Sunrise is the reproduction of the impression and its resulting mood. Monet traveled to a lot place so he painted what he saw. I like this painting because he focused on the shadow in the water. Also the sun’s flection is the most successful par of his painting since the color of the sun is bright and attractive.

Cliff Walk at Pourville

Claude Monet painted Cliff Walk at Pourville in 1882. This painting gives a meaning of life should go on and just move on, everything will be fine don’t be upset. I like this painting because he painted with light color like blue, white and green. Monet was good at painting the nature and it looks like a real picture with some effects on the Photoshop. This painting’s feeling is peace and calm and I like this style of painting.

I choose Claude Monet because I like The Water Lilies. I know this artwork when I go to the art gallery. Claude Monet’s painting style is impressionist and all his artworks give me the feeling is comfortable. I like his artworks are all about nature. I like his painting skills since he used lots of soft color to paint the artwork. His artworks are amazing because they are like the real pictures that I can search on the Internet.

A Mysterious Place

A place in my hometown is horrible to me. There is a house without living anyone. I went in that house when I was ten years old. I persuaded them to go with me because I wanted to see what is inside the house. It was raining on that day and we went into the house at night. I was grabbing my friends’ clothes when I went into the house. There was no light inside the house so my friends turned on the flashlight and continued investigating the house. There were three floors inside the house and all the furniture was old. The house was European style that made me feel horrible. My friends said that this style of house was easily to see the ghost. I was scared because I had not seen the ghost before. When I went up stairs to the second floor, the stairs were shaking. My friends were scared too and we all walked up stairs lightly. The stairs sound like the horror movie’s sound effect.
While we were on the second floor, one of my friends told me someone died on this floor twenty years ago. I walked slowly because I did not want to see that person’s soul. The windows of the floor were closed suddenly, we all screamed at the same time. I could feel the strong wind tried to blow the house down, then I called my friends to run away from the house. When we ran to a safe place, we could see the house was collapsed. The house was a dangerous place that every adult did not allow kids to go. I was frightened when I saw the house falling down in front of me. I thought if we did not get out of the house early, maybe we would die in the house. I felt guilty that I brought my friends to this dangerous place. We were luck that did not hurt in this investigation.
I do not go to the ghost house in the playground because I don’t want to bring up the horrible event from my mind. I still feel guilty to my friends now because I convinced them to go there and had a horrible memory in their minds. The place where I describe is not so horrible to everyone but it is horrible to me.
